Margate Streetscape Redevelopment

To assist in the urban renewal and revitalisation of Margate, a seaside suburb located north of Brisbane, Redcliffe City Council undertook a project to redevelop the Margate Urban Village. THG’s Head of Landscape Architecture, David Scassola (AILA) headed up the team engaged to undertake a comprehensive streetscape upgrade to a 1km retail stretch of Oxley Avenue, adjacent to commercial, light industrial and residential properties as part of this project.

The team worked in close consultation with the Redcliffe City Council and the local community throughout the design process to ensure the redevelopment project produced a place the whole community could use and be proud of. The commission also included the undergrounding of services, extensive civil works, street planting, footpath works, custom street furniture, shelters, interpretive signage and artworks.

The design team was responsible for all aspects of conceptual design, design development, construction documentation and contract administration.
