Emu Park Stormwater Management Plan

The protected salt marsh environment on this site represented a highly sensitive ecological challenge for THG. Representing the interface between tidal and terrestrial environments, this inter-tidal fish nursery area required a comprehensive Stormwater Management Plan to mitigate against environmental damage.

Using a number of the best models, THG worked closely with the project engineers to design and model a series of stormwater treatment devices. CRCCH’s Model for Urban Stormwater, The Improvement Conceptualisation (MUSIC) model and CRCCH’s Aquacycle Program were used to estimate the stormwater treatment capacities and to design and model water recycling elements.

Using constructed vegetated wetlands, swales, bioretention units and gross pollutant traps, THG developed a Stormwater Management plan accommodating the ranges in topography and water quality requirements.
