THG’s Landscape Architecture design team and Nettleton Tribe Architects collaborated to lodge an innovative application to build a 22 level office tower on a parcel of land in Bowen Hills. The project is the latest urban renewal transit-oriented development project in the area. The project incorporates ground level retail space that flows out into an urban public space which will be used as a linkage point to Bowen Hills Train Station. The tower has been designed to achieve a 4.5 National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) Energy Rating, a 5 Star Green Star Rating and meet PCA A- Grade office standards.
Building on the strengths of the office tower location, THG Landscape Architecture designed a mixed use space that capitalises on the existing infrastructure while enabling greater access to the train station and a revitalised office space.
THG collaborated with the Nettleton Tribe team to have an indoor outdoor raised planter push through the glass into the building foyer as a continuation of the space and to bring the outside amenities inside. To help enhance this feature, raised planters were also designed to incorporate seating and define the space using all subtropical plants to suit the Brisbane climate.
These design components of incorporating the landscape inside the existing structure has given this project the needed integration into the pre-existing community and will contribute to creating functionality and integration of the space.
